How to Crack The Code to Success | Elon Musk, Tom Brady, Patrick Bet David

Intro

Ever wonder how some people seem to be able to crack the code, hit another gear, accomplish something that seems so difficult or maybe even impossible. If you are aspiring to be great then you certainly have. Most people who accomplished great things have people they looked up to. People that inspired them and lit that spark in their core. But what it boils down to is that someone did it before them and because of this it made it possible.

The Proof

In sports, before Tom Brady won 7 Super Bowls he had Joe Montana who won 4 and was regarded by many as the GOAT. Gunder Hagg of Sweden held the world record for the fastest mile with a time of 4 minutes and 1.3 seconds. Everyone thought breaching the 4 minute barrier was physically impossible until Roger Bannister, a 25 year old medical student finally did it.

In business, Elon Musk has on multiple occasions said that he looks up to and draws inspiration from several people. Among those people were space legends Neil Armstrong & Gene Cernan as role models and inspirations that catapulted his fascination with space exploration.

In entertain, Sean Combs better known as P Diddy has a mentor in Ray Dalio. A man who founded Bridgewater Associates which grew to become one of the world’s largest hedge funds. This business create a net worth of 22 billion for Ray. Don’t get me wrong, Diddy is extremely successful. He’s known for being an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, and entrepreneur. Diddy’s net worth is calculated to be about 900 million as of 2022. In 2019 the year before having a meeting with Ray Dalio on Youtube for the world to watch his net worth was 740 million. That’s a gain of 160 million in just 3 years.

Family Role Models

When asked who my role model is… I would often say I didn’t really have one. I read books, watched countless interviews and I learned from them but I would quickly move on to the next one. And if someone asked well how about someone you know. I would say my parents. Both my mom and my dad had strengths I pulled from. But deep down inside I didn’t want to be like them. I didn’t aspire to be like my parents. I wanted to accomplish more. I wanted to propel the family forward. My mom did the hard thing of leaving the country of Panama where she excelled in school became a pharmacist and because America is the land of opportunity decided to further her studies here even though she did not know the language. My father was brought here by my grandma from El Salvador to escape the violence and poverty. She was a strong willed woman and is just as strong now as my earliest memory of her. My father joined the military, married my mother and together we moved to Germany, then D.C., then Newport News, VA then finally ATL, GA. None of it, including raising my little brother and me was easy. To say they aren’t role models would be a lie. But that’s not what I’m talking about here.

Powerful Role Models

Up until now I realized I have been neglecting the true power of role models. I tried to will my dreams into existence with no one to serve as a roadmap. No one who did the hard part which is to be the first to do it. But if you are trying to do something that is really hard, something that no one, you personally know has done before, you are doing things the hard way.

You want a role model or two who have accomplished the things you wish to accomplish. Who are living the life you wish to live. Your eventual goal may be to surpass them or do what they did in a different niche or industry but having that person in your mind helps make things easier because it helps make the early steps that much more clearer.
